The Zelt below has been described as East German in several publications , however on closer examination i find it more likely to be a contract piece made in Western Europe for Spain , i want to thank Steve G for his help with this ,and showing me how similar these are to Spanish zelts from the 70's and 80's .

Thw Zelt is made of impregnated Ripstop cotton , the buttoms are Black anodized or painted and sewn on instead of pressed , this tends to lean in a earlier direction year wise , these zelts have been coming out of the Middle East recently in very small numbers , all example's I have seen have been in new unissued codition , no markings or stamps , and are very heavy , so in conclusion these were possibly made by country "A" for Country "B" and were not accepted for whatever reason , the run of test pieces were then sold abroad , this is my guess , i have yet to see a period picture of these zelts in use with any country.
