Below is the first East German Pattern , i do not know the date of introduction , however this pattern was used until at least until the late 50's , many think this was of Russian manufacture , but if one looks at the construction and tags ,these were specifically made by the Germans for use with the East German Army , although similar to Russian patterns ,it is not the same , there are a few variations to the pattern . Thanks To Steve Grammont for the pictures and help ! East German Known as FlachenTarn or Blumentarn this pattern was first introduced in the late 50's replacing the super rare Ameobatarn , the Shelter half doubled as a poncho like most do and is based on the Russian style.
Next is the last version for East Germany , the Rain pattern or Strictarn , same basic design as the earlier , but with pressed metal buttons .
